Get Your Picture with the Wawa Goose
Probably the most well-known roadside attraction in Canada is Wawa’s Canada Goose. Replaced at least three times, this massive sculpture is the reason everyone driving across Canada stops in Wawa—that, and the pickle fudge down the road at Young’s General Store.

The Michipicoten River is a river in the Algoma District of Northern , Canada, which flows from Dog Lake and joins with the Magpie River to empty into Michipicoten Bay on Lake Superior near the town of Wawa. This river is 113 km (70 mi) in length (including Lochalsh River to the outlet of Wabatongushi Lake) and drains an area of about 5,200 km2 (2,000 sq mi).
The river’s name derives from the Ojibwe Mishipikwadina, meaning “big bluffs,”[2], and refers to the large hills near the river’s mouth.


Routes Along the North Shore of Lake Superior

Motorcycling to Wawa, Ontario, Canada
Turning north from Hwy 17, the Trans-Canada Highway, at White River, Ontario, the first thing you notice is the change in scenery. Algoma district is well known for its rocky, rugged, and often harsh landscape. The road begins to wind its way along the shores of Lake Superior and through the small towns that line the route. From the north channel of the lake, the route takes you inland through forests and rivers. The small town of Wawa is a great place to stop for the night. Its scenic location and friendly people make it the perfect place to relax and enjoy your trip. We also have a large parking lot with plenty of room to park your bikes, trucks and trailers.

Tail of the Dragon North
The famous Highway 129 has been nicknamed by riders Ontario’s “Tail of the Dragon,” with the miles of twists and turns that follow the Mississagi River. Beginning your tour either in Sault Ste. Marie or Thessalon, we recommend travelling north up the 129 to Chapleau, then the 101 to Wawa, Ontario.
